    The Bull Shoals Library Friends

    is a 501c3 nonprofit organization,

    run by volunteers to maintain our community library.

    Board Meetings

    are held on the 2nd Monday of the month in the Pilz-Jasnich Annex.

    Volunteer Opportunities

    Jobs include: general desk duties, event planning, fundraising, gardening, community outreach, youth engagement, library tech, graphic design, cleaning, organizing, interior design, OR whatever talents you bring.

    • Various continually evolving sections of books, including: Mystery, Western, Romance, Science Fiction, Non-Fiction, Children & Young Adult, and Large Print.

    Programs include:

    • Story Time for Young Children - Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. - This year we will "Explore the World!" focusing on a new country each month. February = Australia, March = Ireland, April = Tunisia... 
    • Personal and Professional Development Workshops - in collaboration with the Bull Shoals White River Chamber of Commerce. Monday, April 13th at 5:30 p.m. we will offer: Getting Organized with Gmail, presented by Dana Scott, director of the Marion County Library.
    • Tech Talk - for one-on-one help with questions about your smart phone or tablet - every Tuesday, 12:00-5:00 p.m.
    • Conversation Café - an engaging conversation with coffee and snacks - every other Friday at 11:00 a.m.                            (February 14, 28 / March 13, 27 / April 10, 24...)
    • Used Book Sales: The next one is scheduled for April 3-4, 2020. 
    • Full Moon Fires. Starting in 2020! Mon, March 9th (Worm moon), Tues, April 7th (Pink Moon), Sat, May 7th (Flower Moon)... We will sit by the fire, cook hot dogs, sing songs, and tell stories. Join us!

    Pricing

    • Weekly: $2.00 per person
    • Monthly: $25.00 per month
    • One-time use: $50.00 (without kitchen), $70.00 (with kitchen) + a $25.00 refundable deposit

    Rental Contract and more information is available during normal library hours.

     

     

     

    History of the building

    In 2010, the Library's main building was running out of space, so the library board decided to construct an annex building behind the main library to house storage space, provide kitchen services, and offer conference space for meetings and events. D&D Construction (David Parks) of Mountain Home ran the project assisted by volunteers starting in the summer of 2010, with completion in December of that year.

    CHILDREN AND YOUTH

    We are continually evolving the children's and Young Adult sections and we hope to get more young people involved in our community of learners (full moon fires, story times, volunteering, etc.)

    SUSTAINABILITY

    We are exploring ways to get solar panels on our Annex Building.

    PROMOTING LOCAL & GLOBAL CULTURE

    We're collaborating with local artist to display their work throughout the library buildings.

     

    NEW PROGRAMS

    This year we're launching: Full Moon Fires, First Fridays for Art, and Multi-cultural Cooking with Kids :)
